The research focused on the national legislative frameworks concerning law enforcement access to digital data, focusing on bypassing encryption. It aimed to collect information on:
- National legislation allowing law enforcement to decrypt encrypted devices and communication, remotely capture data, oblige communication providers and suspects to assist in decrypting data, and exploit vulnerabilities;
- National case law on the use of these provisions.
